Car accidents seem to be par for the course on some of Stafford's main drags. If you go to the State Police's news site and search for "Stafford" all but two of the results on the first page are related to motor vehicle accidents in one form or another. Helicopters flying overhead are often a sign that someone is getting airlifted from the scene of an accident. Hilly roads, winding streets, summer joyriders, and (as residents will recall) roaming cows are often to blame. But things took a strange turn on Saturday, September 2, 2023, when one car rammed another and then took off.
Around 7:15 p.m. on East Street, Patch reports, a 22-year-old driver and 19-year-old passenger were heading West in a Honda Accord when they encountered a Chevy Equinox with Massachusetts plates driving slowly and swerving. The Honda's driver decided to pass this vehicle on the left, and when the car re-entered the proper lane, the Chevy sped up and rammed the Honda twice before speeding away.
The Equinox was reportedly registered to a leasing company, but the driver is still unknown. If you have any information, call Troop C barracks at 860-896-3200.
