*EDITOR'S NOTE: This event is being rescheduled from August 24 to September. An exact date has not been given.

If you see a caravan of Jeeps traveling through town, it’s not the latest gathering of enthusiasts at Stafford Motor Speedway. Rather, it’s a Poker Run for Jeeps organized by Stafford Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (CDJR) and designed to help bring attention to other local businesses.

Beginning at the dealership the Jeeps will leave and travel along the route provided on a map to participating local businesses. The list of participating businesses currently includes Artisans at Middle River, Artist Haven Media, Let’s Get Wired, The NAPA Network, Stafford Cidery, Mill Pond Country Store, and Three Graces Vintage.

The businesses will prepare an activity for participants, or players will be able to shop, eat, or drink. All participants will identify as “Jeepers” and receive a customized playing card.

“As they move along, they will learn about the local businesses, which will feed business and awareness to the community,” says Brandy Charland, BDC Manager at Stafford CDJR. “They will then end the run back at Stafford CDJR where there will be a ‘River’ like in Texas Hold ‘Em. They can use the cards they collected as well as the river cards to make the best hand.”

The players with the best hands will win prizes from the participating businesses.

“The goal is to build community involvement and awareness and to build our local economy,” says Charland. She adds that at the dealership, which has been under new ownership since November of 2023, “We have tried to build not only our brand but our community up. We are focused on getting involved and helping out as best as we can. Many of us live in town and love our town.”

There is no need to register; just show up in your Jeep at Stafford CDJR by 10 a.m. on August 24 [PLEASE NOTE THIS DATE IS NO LONGER ACCURATE BUT A REPLACEMENT HAS NOT BEEN CONFIRMED]. There will also be an after-party back in Haymarket Square on Main Street, where Carl Ricci & 706 Union Ave will play from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
